should I tell my partner I have molluscum? Could they hurt her in any way?
| Response from Dr. Conway
Molluscum is a superficial infection of the skin caused by a virus. The treatment for it is quite simple, usually, just a matter of removing them with a sharp instrument or freezing them off. They are contagious, and in someone with a weak immune system (such as with a CD4 count below 200), they can become quite extensive and disfiguring and be difficult to remove. If your partner has HIV with a low CD4 count, you need to be careful.
