common cold
Aug 27, 2005

my cousin was just diag with being HIV.or over the past few weeks he has had a very bad cough. he say that he feels fine.We as a family make sure that he take his medicine everyday. i'm not sure what we can do to help him get over this cough. he is not running a fevor or anything like that.

Response from Dr. Henry

Cough in the setting of HIV infection can be due to a wide range of factors. His HIV specialist hopefully is aware of the cough and has evaluated it. Persons with HIV can have a wide range of lung problems which may be related to HIV or other factors (such as smoking, allergies, a cold as you suggest etc). KH
