I am 47,male.I had a minor neck injury at work in 2004. I was diagnosed with a sprain/strain injury possible whiplash.Six weeks after my injury, I developed a rash on my neck . I went 9 months before I found a pain specialist,Dr.Lamb www.spinalsolutions.ca,who diagnosed my rash as shingles.The rash keeps reappearing,4x in 20 months, and the last time I was on Valtrex. Valtrex also helps with the pain as when I came down from Valtrex, my pain increased.I am still suffering neck pain,headaches,chronicfatigue etc., but I am up to 6 hours of lightduty a day since on Valtrex and IMS treatments.I have an excellent work record, 27 years with the same company,but since the injury had to miss alot of time from work. The workers insurance board (WSIB)excepted my claim until I exceeded my recovery time and was diagnosed with shingles. They denied my claim because they say I can't prove my shingles are injury related. Can someone help me prove shingles/PHN can be caused by injury. THANKS!! Andy

You don't state what your HIV status is and which HIV meds you are taking (this website forum is for the discussion of side effects of HIV treatment). Usually shingles (herpes zoster) isn't precipitated by an injury. KH
