Response from Dr. Henry
Many forms of AIDS-associated pneumonia can be treated. If your brother's HIV virus has developed resistance to many/most of the available HIV meds then chances for full recovery and long life are diminished. Many variables (both HIV related and not) impact long term chances for good health. Certainly many patients who have lived with HIV for decades and who now have been diagnosed with AIDS can do well if good treatment options are available. KH | |||||||||
