Persons with HIV generally do well with most surgical procedures. Outcomes may be somewhat improved if the patients had a good CD4 count and a suppressed viral level. I have not seen much on outcomes for stomach stabling procesures in HIV+ patients. Much of the approach would be similar to an uninfected patient. In most cases if a patient was undergoing elective surgery we would consider making sure their nutrion and HIV status was optimized. KH | |||||||||
