It is way to early to comment on whetehr protease inhibitors could be effective in serious flu or other infections but it is an interesting idea. Protease inhibitors decrease apoptosis which could decrease a cascage of negative effects unleashed by the immune system against a new invader. We should know more over the next year about this.
