Lipoatrophy: Some Things That Have Helped
Feb 2, 2005

Hi All- I have less of a question than some comments about some things I've tried which have really helped with lipoatrophy. Before the lipo set in, I weighed about 150lbs at 5'8" tall. Ultimately I dropped to 136lbs as of April 2004. Now, I'm at 150lbs again and this time it's all rock-hard muscle! The gain in body mass is due to: 1) Switching meds from Videx, Viramune and Zerit to Kaletra, Invirase and Fuzeon. 2) Adding Androgel and Oxandrin to my meds, with a daily intake of protein equal to 1g per lb of body weight. 3) Intense weight-lifting supervised by a great trainer. The facial lipo was a lot more complicated. Though I noticed some organic improvement, and my degree of lipo was relatively moderate, I was still really depressed about it. Last week, I had soft-solid silicone implants and couldn't be happier with them. Obviously the skill of my surgeon(Rodger Wade Pielet in Chicago)has a lot to do with that. The point is, I now feel that I look hotter than ever, even before the lipo set in. And while some of these therapies are played down I can tell you that for the right patient the results are nothing less than miraculous. I hope this gives those of you anguished, as I was, by the disfigurment of lipoatrophy some hope and help.
