|Number of combinations?
Aug 25, 2004
How many different antiviral combinations are strongly recommended or recommended alternatives? I know in 2002 there were 78 different combos without tenofovir...with tenofovir, t20 and atazanavir what does that bring us up to?

I don't pay much attention to the most recent recommendations since they are usually out of date to some degree and lag behind what many HIV specialists actually use. Now that FTC is also available along with combinations of FTC/tenofovir and abacavir/3TC (as single pills used once a day) they number of reasonable combinations continueds to rapidly increase. Lexiva is also available as a new PI so the situation gets even more complex regarding how many possibilities exists-there are hundreds of possible 3-4 drug combinations that might work for particular individuals.
