drugs contr-indicated with ARV's
Jun 4, 2004

Which drugs should not be taken with ARV's? for example, if you are already taking tablets for blood pressure, epilepsy and depression -would it be safe to take ARV's and would they be useful?

Response from Dr. Henry

The list of possible contra-indicated drugs is very lengthy and depends on which antiretroviral drugs a person is taking. I have numerous patients with hypertension, epilepsy, and depression who are doing well on a variety of HIV regimens. I check several websites for interactions and get help from an HIV knowledgeable pharmacist to make sure I am dosing the medications correctly and safely. KH
