| Dental Implants in HIV patients May 19, 2004 Can dental implants be placed in HIV patients with good success. There is not a good randomized prospective study that reveals a substandard success rate in HIV patients. Please inform on your personal thoughts and findings from the literature. Thank you very much for your time. |

Response from Dr. Henry
Dental procedures including implants usually are well tolerated with few problems other than what is seen in the general populatio. A low CD4 count and poor nutrition or oral health/hygiene might predispose to more problems. I have had scores of patients undergo a wide range of dental procedures without difficulty. KH | |||||||||
