Failed a urinalysis
Mar 9, 2004

Hey,

I recently had a random urinalysis at work, and come to find out I failed it. I do not do illegal drugs, but I do take the meds my doctor have prescribed to me. I am getting mixed answers from various doctors as to wether or not my meds can make me fail. I supposedly had 'methamphetamine in my system. The meds I am on are as follows: Atazanavir Norvir Epivir Viread Septra DS Azithromycin If anyone knows anything about this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Response from Dr. Henry

I am not aware of good data (help out there) of those drugs causing a false + test for methamphetamines. Since you are on so many meds your HIV doc may want to write a note stating that fact and that there may be some uncertainty about the accuracy of the urine drug screening. I would ask to get checked again. KH
