Frequent urination
Mar 2, 2004

Hi ,I've been on medication since 5/03 and almost ever since I have been urinating double than what I usually do and sometime I wake up 2 times a night to go. Is it associated with the medicine? I'm on Trizivir and Viramune.

Thanks a lot for all your help.

Response from Dr. Conway

Sometimes frequent urination is an early sign of diabetes, which may be associated with HIV medications, so you may want to get your blood sugar checked out. This being said, it is more frequent with protease inhibitors, which you are not taking.

Are you taking your medications at night with a big glass of water or other liquid? That may be another simple answer.

Barring these, there are more common things that should be looked into, such as issues with your prostate, urinary infections and other issues with your kidneys. Your doctor can order all the right tests to figure this out.
