Gingivitis and periodontitis are common on the general population and perhaps more common and severe in HIV+ persons. In my experience gum problems usually get better with effective HIV treatment including with the drugs you are taking. Even more important is good dental care by an HIV friendly dentitis. Often extensive tooth cleaning can help restore gum health. I often prescribe Peridex mouthwash to help with gum disease and recommend flossing and using soft bristl brush with baking soda/peroxide toothpaste. KH
