|Odds or russian roulette?

Dear dr Henry, I've a brief question in my mind since the time I became infected, one year ago: CDC states that the odds of being infected by a single exposure during vaginal intercourse are less than 0.3... so why 40 millions of infected people by this route around the world? Thanks for the extraordinary and compassionate work that you are doing

If you multiply 40 million HIV infected people times X (# if unprotected sexual acts/year)times 0.3 then you get a very large number that is estimated to be 5-6 millioin people infected worldwide/year. The figures are mere estimates with a wide range of error and individual characteristcs.KH
