Stop smoking, or stop depression
Aug 7, 2003

I was taking Wellbutrin to help me stop smoking. It works very well. The problema was my sleep was very minimal. My doctor took me off of the Wellbutrin and put me immediately on Zoloft. Now I have the cravings for a cigarrette and was wondering if I need to stop the Zoloft to get back on the Wellbutrin, or is it safe to mix them? I am also taking Viread, Viramune,Videx, Amitryptiline, and Ambien or Xanax.

Response from Dr. Henry

There is legitimate concern about possible interaction between the Viramune and Wellbutrin. I usually avoid the combination and prescribe nicotine substitutes (patch, gum or inhaler) tapering over 2-3 months as an alternative. KH
