|Psoriasis caused by alcohol?
Apr 27, 2003
Hey guys, HIV positive for 16 years, AIDS for 12. I've developed psoriasis over the past year. I have read there is an unexplained correlation between AIDS and psoriasis, and I have also read that psoriasis is found more frequently among people who drink alcohol. I just started college this year, so I also started to drink. I'm seeing a dermatologist, but I figured it would be easier just to ask you guys. Do you think my psoriasis could be the result of alcohol? Will continuing to drink make it worse? I'm aware of the stress AIDS medications put on the liver, so I consume about 4 drinks a month (sometimes 0) Thanks
Response from Dr. Henry
4 drinks/month should be OK from either the HIV med or psoriasis standpoint. KH
