Response from Dr. Henry
Persons with HIV who are doing well generally do fine after surgery so there is no reason from the HIV perspective not to have the procedure done. The abdominal fat increases one generally thinks about when discussing lipodystrophy involves visceral (deep within the abdominal cavity) fat and not subcutaneous fat (which sometimes actually decreases). I am not aware of any data that says having liposuction would impact future lipodystrophy issues one way or the other. KH | |||
