I take my coctail for 2 weeks and stop 1 week, this schedule works well and my viral load is undectable (CD 680) and i have hardly any side effects, i want to change to Kaletra, Viread, Ziagen, but my question is can i continue my treatment interuptions with this combination? if not please give another option |

Response from Dr. Henry
There is some concern about abacavir (Ziagen) hypersensitivity reactions in the setting of repeated start/stops. Even if there is no increased risk for hypersensitivity it could be difficult to distinguish from the inevitable cold or viral infections that can mimic the hypersensitivity reaction. Videx might be a good alternative. 3TC (and soon FTC) are also possibilities. KH | |||||||||
