PN...
Dec 3, 2002

Dr. Henry,

I have read numerous times that PN usually affects the feet first before the hands are affected. My question to you is this, what is the time frame from from the feet beeing affected before the hands are effected next? Are we talking weeks, months, or years (# of years?) from the onset of PN in the feet to the hands? Does PN due to HIV or the meds affect the feet and hands at the same time and if so how often (). Also what are the time frames, how soon after HIV infection does PN affect the individuals (years)?

Response from Dr. Henry

The time frame for peripheral neuropathy can vary but usually occurs slowly (months). KH
