| Alcohol and Meds Oct 9, 2002 Hello, I have been HIV+ since 98'; viral load undetectable and cd4 is 666. I take sustiva & combivir. I've read where a glass a day of wine is possibly good for you? I suppose everything in moderation. Should alcohol simply just be avoided for people w/ HIV/AIDS? Interactions, concerns, I should be aware of? Thanks |

Response from Dr. Henry
Low dose alcohol ( a glass of wine or can of beer equivalent) is well tolerated in most cases (unless hepatitis C+ or increased risk for pancreatitis ie on ddI + D4T) and may have some positive health benefits-enjoy! KH | |||||||||
