| strenuous exercise Jun 2, 2002 I have been an extremely athletic person my whole life, and was wondering can this hard core stuff make me develop lactic acidosis from my meds? My muscles ache(With exercise) and I assumed it was a lactic acid release, but now I don't know? It was testing a while ago and okay, but now I am on new meds.Would a sed rate tell me anything?I'm afraid to stop working out because I know lipo will win. |

Response from Dr. Henry
Exercise has not been reported to be a risk factor for serious persisent lactic acidosis in the setting of HIV treatment. A sed rate won't help. If a person was developing lactic acidosis there may be a slower recovery time from the high lactic acidosis that exercise can cause. A review of your HIV meds and perhaps a resting lactic acid level may provide reassurance that exercise is OK. KH | ||||||||||
