| Neck Lymph Node Feb 20, 2001 Hi doctor. Is it possible for the lymph node in the neck to be painful but not swollen? And if so, is this a symptom for HIV? |

Response from Dr. Bartlett
Lymph nodes can be painful, although usually they are also swollen. These symptoms could be consistent with HIV infection, and you should strongly consider contacting your health care provider to get tested. | |||||||||
