Symptoms after three years?
Mar 18, 2002

Dear Doctors, Three years ago I was with a man and had unprotected sex. We were together for a very short time. Approximately 6 weeks after our departure, I had a sore throat, slight cold symptoms. (It was fall weather) I am now having some groin lymp tenderness and abdominal pain. Should I be concerned? I've really not been sick other than sinus infection in the winter. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Response from Dr. Henry

Those sy,ptoms are not particularly indicative of HIV infection and are common in the general population. If you haven't bee tested for HIV or other sexually transmitted disease, it might be wise to get tested/checked if no other reason than to relieve any worry about the matter. KH
