Growing a left tit and on Crixivan
Nov 4, 1997

Dr. Gallant: I just received a telephone call from my doctor because he remembered my telling him about

developing a very symmetrical and large mass under my left breast. Since I've had lymphoma, my oncologist

put me through the ringer and decided the mass was just that, a mass, and I could have it removed if I

wanted. I declined. The mass is now decreasing. In December I will have been on Crixivan for a year. The

mass did not show up until after starting the Crixivan. I notice in many of your responses you mention

testosterone levels. My doctor called me because he read some new report about breast enlargement as a

side effect of Crixivan, and he wants to check out my blood work for hormones and endrocrine (whatever).

What do you know about this "side-effect?" Will

Response from Dr. Gallant

Will,

I've seen the same report that your doctor mentioned, but it didn't involve a breast mass, but breast enlargement (both sides) in a woman taking Crixivan. A solitary mass involving only one breast is a very different thing, and I would be hesitant to assume that it was caused by Crixivan.
