I have tested 11 times all negative but for two months I have some swollen lymph nodes in my neck,I have taken usg for my neck two times first two months ago they found two swollen lymph nodes on my neck (0.6*0.4 and0.7*0.4)second usg this month they found three swollen nodes(0.7*0.5 and 0.6*0.3* on the right side.7*0.3)they told me they are reactive nodes.I want to ask you this.are these sizes means nodes are swollen and can these means I have this virus.please answer.
Response from Dr. Young
Reactive lymph nodes are very non-specific findings, and while they could be due to HIV, negative testing makes this very much less likely. Other things that can cause reactive lymph nodes include other viral illnesses (such as herpes, or mononucleosis), local bacterial infections (dental or gingival infections); rheumatoid illnesses or malignancies. -BY
