Protease Inhibitors and diabetes
Feb 5, 1998

How should treatment be adjusted for individuals who are taking protease inhibitors with positive results on viral load and t cell count, but negative effects on the glucose control of their diabetes (levels of 300+)?

Response from Dr. Gallant

Generally, if the protease inhibitors are working well, we just treat the diabetes and continue the protease inhibitors. There might be exceptions if the diabetes were particularly severe.
