Elevate numbers?
Nov 15, 2000

I have elevated blood pressure, and can't sleep. After a few hours of sleep, I am awakened by elevated heart rate. I'm not on any meds at this time. Why do I have this? If blood pressure and heart rate are not results of hiv+, what could drive this reaction?

Response from Dr. Boyle

Elevated blood pressure has not been directly associated with HIV infection; however, several conditions involved in HIV, including severe anxiety and heart or kidney disease, may play a secondary role in high blood pressure. Effective control of your blood pressure and the diagnosis and treatment of any other conditions may help to alleviate your symptoms. You should call your doctor and discuss evaluation and treatment options. BB
