Response from Dr. Henry
Many factors influence development of lipodystrophy including age, time with HIV, history of AIDS, degree of HIV control and immune recovery as well as the choice of medications and how long the meds have been used. Certainly patients on your cocktail develop lipodystrophy but differing definitions have been used so no single figure can be attached to your chances--= we don't know. Careful monitoring for lipodystrophy could pick up early trends that might respond to changes in meds or other interventions that are being studied. This topic is very important and is getting lots of attention but we still lack many answers. KH | |||||||||
