A simple question deserves a simple answer, but unfortunately that's not possible in this area. The studies show a wide range of incidence of lipodystrophy, from less than 10% all the way up to close to 80%. It depends a lot upon who is doing the evaluation for lipodystrophy (it's in the eye of the beholder), what antiretroviral regimens are being used, what the underlying demographics and disease characteristics are of the population being studied, and other factors. With that said, I think a rough estimate, based upon a recent cohort study, is about 20%. | |||||||||
