|Prescription available for night sweats?
Nov 19, 2010
Are there any prescription drugs available in the U.S. to treat frequent night sweats for HIV (aside from prescription aspirin and the like)?
Response from Dr. Henry
Approach to management of night sweats depends on underlying cause. There is no medication solely approved for treatment of night sweats. A search for associated infection, tumor, hormone, and other problems is indicated for night sweats. If work-up is negative then symptom management with drugs like acetominophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen might be tried on an empiric basis. Some HIV+ patients have night sweats that may be helped by use of effective HIV meds. KH
