Lump under nipples
Oct 16, 2009
Hello.
I have been diagnosed 2 years ago, and under treatment of Efafirenz and Truvada for 9 months now.
A few months ago I dicovered a lump under my left nipple.
After mamography cancer wasw ruled out, and my doctor suggested that it is genycomastia and maybe I should change the medication. I refused, since it took me quite a while to get used to it and I dont wanna go through this again.
Now, a lump of the same size appeared under my right nipple. it hurts a when touched.
I am taking Propecia for 6 years.
Any idea what could this be caused by? Any idea what I can do? I read a little and understand that there are so many areas that are still not really studied.. but I would appreciate any information that can help me with this situation...
Thank you very much!

Response from Dr. Henry

Increased male breast size (gynecomastia) is often frustrating to explain and treat. Propecia can cause gynecomastia and is more likely a contributing factor than your current HIV regimen (though one of those drugs remains a possibility). Many other conditions can contribute such as liver, renal disease, numerous endocrine disorders, alcohol or pot use, steroid use, and many other drugs. Yet often the precipating cause remains unclear even after a careful evaluationa and work-up. KH
