Fortunately, I haven't had to start HIV meds yet. I'm considering starting those meds after all the info I've read about better results when starting at higher CD-4.

I have question about all the meds I will be taking. My genotype says I can't take the Atripla pill, so I'll have to take 3 pills a day when I do start. Besides that, I take 4- Lorcet 10/650 a day following back surgery and chronic back pain. I take 1 and a half Xanax a day for really bad panic attacks. I'm taking 120mg of Cymbalta. I also take 50mg of Atenolol. My doc says a baby aspirin wouldn't hurt as well and some vitamins. Oh, possibly a statin too in the future. I'm 33 yrs old.

I hope the Cymbalta eventually works and I can stop the Xanax. It all seems like a lot of meds to me. I've always been afraid of taking too many meds. However, I know people like my mom take what seems like 20 different meds.

Is there anything to be worried about with taking all this as long as I take as prescribed?

Depending on results of resistance testing you likely would be starting on a boosted protease inhibitor based regimen + 2NRTIs. The boosted protease inhibitor may interact with the xanax so the dose of xanax may need to be decreased significantly or at least monitored. The same is true for the Cymbalta. Other meds should generally be OK. Those drugs can often be taken safely together with careful monitoring and proper dose adjustments. KH
