Garlic & The Liver
Sep 3, 2008

I have heard that garlic is not good for the liver when your enzymes are not at normal levels. A couple of years I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease and have been working hard at losing weight and eating in a much more healthy manner, yet the counts go up and down. Can you tell me if garlic could be affecting my liver as well. Oh, I am not currently on any anti HIV meds.

High dose medicinal garlic is used to treat many conditions but firm data supporting that practice is lacking. Garlic can interact with either protease inhibitors or efavirenz so needs to be used cautiously or avoided if taking regimens containing those drugs.KH
