Any time your mucous membranes come into contact with another person's HIV infected fluids, there is a possibility of transmission. The fact that there is a POSSIBILITY of transmission is completely different than the LIKELIHOOD of transmission. In the history of the epidemic (as tracked in the U.S), there have been no cases of HIV transmission from a person's mouth to another person's genitals (there was one case where transmission might have occurred this way, but the findings were inconclusive, and the contact seemed to involve blood). This is considerable proof that receiving oral sex poses a negligible risk. If you still feel uncomfortable with any of the grey areas of sex, use a condom for receiving oral sex.

The fluids that are known to transmit HIV through sex are semen, blood, and vaginal/cervical secretions. Minimize mucosal contact with those fluids and you reduce the chances of infection.
