Response from Mr. Sowadsky
Hi. Thank you for your question. I'm assuming you're talking about HIV-1 and HIV-2. Tests for HIV-1 in the USA are able to pick up strains of HIV-1 found in Africa and other parts of the world. There are separate tests for HIV-2. For a detailed discussion about HIV testing of different strains of HIV-1, and testing for HIV-2, see the following posts: Home tests; HIV1 and HIV2; Window Period Western Blot Test for unknown HIV strains HIV-1 subtype O and others If you have any further questions, please feel free to call the Centers for Disease Control at 1.800.232.4636 (Nationwide). | |||
