Finger in the Mouth
Dec 2, 2001

Dear Ryan,

I placed my finger on a dancers clitoris and then stupidly put my finger in my mouth. I definitely was able to taste the young woman's vaginal fluid.

Am I at risk? Please answer, as I fear the wonderful family and life I have built up are at risk.

Response from Mr. Kull

The only ways that HIV is known to be sexually transmitted is through anal, vaginal, and (less frequently) oral sex. Your encounter does not fall into any of these categories.

If we were to make a comparison, the encounter you describe is similar to oral sex performed on a woman (getting vaginal fluids in the mouth). Since the risk of infection through performing oral sex on a woman is very small (only a few documented cases by the CDC), your encounter presents an even smaller, practically negligible risk. Your contact with vaginal fluids was minimal and indirect.
