| colf/flu producing a false negative Nov 14, 1997 Rick, I just tested negative at 6 months after an exposure to hiv but am concerned that my test result might have been thrown off by me recently contracting a cold/flu. Is there any possibility that people with a cold or flu might produce some physiological response that would make the ELISA less than fully accurate in its detection of HIV? THanks for your help! |

Response from Mr. Sowadsky
Hi. Thank you for your question. Having a cold or the flu will not affect HIV antibody tests. Therefore your test result at 6 months is considered fully accurate, regardless of whether you had a cold/flu or not. If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail me at "nvhotline@aol.com" or call me at (Nationwide). I'm glad to help! | |||
