I am HIV poz. I always masturbate alone when I want sex. Can masturbation increase the viral load or decrease immune?
Response from Mr. Kull
Masturbation does not have any negative effects on your physical and psychological health. In fact, masturbation is a healthy part of sexuality and probably has some benefits to your physical and psychological health (if I recall correctly, some studies attest to this). Being HIV positive does not change this.
What are your feelings about masturbation? Do you feel some guilt about it? Unless masturbation is interfering with your day-to-day life, there is no objective reason to be concerned. Take a deeper look at your feelings about sex and consider talking with someone about those feelings if they are causing you conflict.
