|Is hiv transmitted by urine this way?
Nov 26, 2001
This is probley one of the stupidest questions but I need to ask. Can you get hiv thru wiping with toilet paper with urine on it? Example- the toilet paper dampened by falling in the toilet bowel. I had an experience where I wiped with this damp toilet paper and didn't think too much about it , but later on it kind of hit me like a train, what if this paper was in the toilet bowl and had someones urine in it at the time. It was a hospital bathroom so maybe it was damp from the cleaners cart by setting it on something wet I hope!It would be alot off my mind if you could answer this thank you.

There are no stupid questions.
There is no evidence that HIV is transmitted through urine. The urine of infected people contains antibodies to HIV, but no virus has been isolated in urine. It is also unlikely that HIV would survive in the environment long enough to be transmitted through contact with toilet paper in the bathroom.
