genital warts and testicular cancer
Jul 9, 1997
I was wondering if there is any connection between having genital warts and then developing testicular cancer. If there is what is the chance of it occurring and is it a common occurrence.
Response from Mr. Sowadsky
Hi. Thank you for your question. Genital warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. Although it has been previously suggested that testicular cancer may be linked to a virus, to date, there is no proof that any virus causes testicular cancer. Viruses like Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) have essentially been shown not to be the cause of testicular cancer. Therefore being diagnosed with HPV or Genital Warts does not appear to put you at risk for testicular cancer.
