What is a discharge?
Aug 20, 1999
Hello. A quick question for you. Ghoneria/Clamidia--The discharges that they have---are they urine discharges? Or some other kind of infectious discharges?
Response from Mr. Sowadsky
Thank you for your question.
When we are talking about discharges associated with gonorrhea, chlamydia, NSU/NGU, urinary tract infections, etc., we are not talking about urine discharge (release). The discharge we are talking about here is pus. There may sometimes be painful urination (peeing) at the same time. Abnormal urine release or inability to control urination (also known as incontinence) is not usually associated with STDs, but can indicate other medical problems. If you have either of these problems, please see your doctor to determine the cause.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to call the Centers for Disease Control at 1.800.232.4636 (Nationwide).
