What are some good resources to be found at many local branch libraries about anatomy and physiology of the body? The Body: Rick Sowadsky M.S.P.H., C.D.S, Answers to Safe Sex Questions
Jan 18, 1997

What are some good resources to be found at many local branch libraries about anatomy and physiology of the body?

Are there any anatomical or physiological resources that anybody can request for no charge from various scientific, medical, health, government or drug companies' toll free telephone numbers? Are there any anatomy or physiology sites via the web?

Response from Mr. Sowadsky

Hi. Thank you for your question.

There is no specific reference book or resource that I can suggest for you. However, if you visit a medical library, you can find many excellent anatomy and physiology reference books for your use. If there is a medical school near you, the medical library there can offer a great selection of anatomy and physiology reference books as well. You may also visit a local bookstore that has a good selection of reference books. Often, if a bookstore or library doesn't have what you're looking for, they can usually order a book for you. There are also some excellent software packages that deal specifically with human anatomy. You may wish to check with a local software store, or a mail order software store. I am not aware of any websites that deal with human anatomy and physiology. However if you use a Web search tool such as Web Crawler, you may find something in this area on the web.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the Centers for Disease Control at 1.800.232.4636 (Nationwide).
