Do you have any knowledge of this? and if so, is this detectable by the standard HIV-1 ELISA? Thank you for your assistance. |

 Hi. Thank you for your question. There are only 2 HIV viruses, HIV-1 and HIV-2. There is no HIV-B virus. Both of the HIV viruses infect CD4 cells (also known as T4 cells or T-Helper cells). More information on HIV-2 can be found in the questions: Blood Tests in West Africa/HIV1 vs HIV2 | ||||||||
