| Eliminating the virus from the body (immunity) Aug 6, 1998 Is it true that there are reports of people that have sero-converted, even developed infection symptoms, and still have eliminated the virus from the body? |

Response from Mr. Sowadsky
Thank you for your question. When a person gets an infection, and then their body successfully eliminates the infection (without medical intervention), the term for this is called "immunity". So far, nobody is known to have a proven immunity against HIV. For more information on a related issue, read the posting A question on AIDS occurrences. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call the Centers for Disease Control at 1.800.232.4636 (Nationwide). | |||||||||
