is it possible for hiv to give a sore throat that would last for 11 months. 2 weeks after havivg received oral sex i have had a sore throat for 11 months and arthitic type pains which come and go. could this be attributed to hiv
Response from Mr. Kull
It is not likely that this is attributed to HIV, not only based on the symptom alone, but also based on the fact that you received oral sex. Receiving oral sex is considered a theoretical risk only, meaning that transmission is possible but it doesn't seem to happen (based on the documented cases of transmission). The main reason why people don't get infected through receiving oral sex is that saliva doesn't seem to transmit HIV.
If you are concerned about your symptoms, I encourage you to see a doctor. If the reasons for your discomfort are not discovered through a medical examination, consider the influence of psychological issues as well.
