Both Pos, different combination therapies can I acquire his resistance? May 18, 2001 My partner and I are both positive and using different combination therapies. We are now having unprotected sex. As such am I putting myself at risk of acquiring a resistant strain from him for medications I haven't used yet? |

 The research isn't conclusive, but there is good evidence that reinfection--sometimes referred to as superinfection--with drug-resistant strains of HIV is possible. Superinfection with a drug resistant strain may lead to a failure in a person's drug treatment, or possibly accelerate progression to AIDS.
