Can you catch Hepatitis C from blood in bathrooms

Mar 30, 2015

Since Hep C can live on surfaces and dried blood for days can you catch it by using public bathrooms if you touch for example the sanitary napkin disposal and it had blood on it? Or if the handle was touched by someone who previously had blood on their hands or does it have to be a lot of blood to direct blood contact?

Response from Mr. Glenn

Thanks for your question,

What you're talking about doesn't sound risky. While Hep C can live in dry blood, it going to need a way to get inside your body. Simply touching a surface isn't going to do that.

Hope this helps,

Erik
