HIV and anxiety
Aug 8, 2014
This is more of a statement than a question. I had a possible exposure to HIV from a condom breaking. I was so worried to the point where it became an obsession. I couldn't eat, I was getting tension headaches, and even had a hives breakout for a couple of hours. I even was convinced my neck lymph nodes were swollen and would prod them countless times a day. Essentially, my stress mimicked ARS symptoms. I got my HIV RNA test results today and no HIV was detected in my blood. My advice to people reading this is to just stay calm and know that googling symptoms and fearing for the worst does not help. It is extremely unhealthy. Worrying about HIV is understandable, but don't let it become an obsession. Play it safe, make good choices, and don't try to self diagnose yourself.

Thanks for writing in. That's great advice! The internet can be our friend, but in cases like this - our enemy.
