using a safety pin
May 31, 2014

we got safety pins from a running competition before 8 months.i put them in a bag.i thought those are new safety pins.i used that safety pin to pick some wooden stick in hand.after that iam fearing so much really they are new safety pins or not.please give suggestion.

Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman

Hello there First, it is most likely that indeed the safety pins were new. Second, even if they weren't new, there is no chance that the pin you used had been infected with HIV and would have been capable of infecting you. HIV does not live long in the environment and thus it is not possible to be infected in the manner you describe. Take care LHW
