I think I have HIV
May 13, 2014

Around The end of December I had unprotected anal sex and since then I've had weird flu like symptoms 2 times and they only lasted 3 days each, and now I'm feeling swollen lymph nodes under my chin and I feel like I have a cold, I also feel a weird feeling above my stomach like I have to burp or throw up, do these symptoms go with HIV? I'm really scared

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi Having unprotected anal sex carries the highest risk of HIV transmission not only HIV but all of the other sexually transmitted infections out there. My recommendation to you would be to get a full screening which should include HIV. The testing guidelines for HIV are to be initially tested at 3 weeks post exposure and then again at 90 days. As long as there are no other exposures happened during this time frame than the results are conclusive.

be well and get tested! Shannon
